What can be taken on long journeys of migration, what must be left behind? These forms are baggy, having the soft qualities of material against which imaginary contents press from within creating folds, undulations and bulges. Size and weight, strength and fragility. A dichotomy. The thin smoke- fired rims accentuate the fineness of build while their volume belies their lightness of being. Each sculpture is made with intention but there are no design drawings, rather making becomes a response to the form growing before me. Intuition, a flow of unconsciousness. Making that which is unknown to me.
